NELSON Worldwide, award-winning architecture, design, and strategy firm, welcomes Micah Hall as Southeast Regional Practice Leader of Hospitality. Micah has 20-plus years of experience in design, focusing on the conception of spaces where people gather, celebrate, and engage with others, specifically food and beverage, retail, and entertainment environments.

“The hospitality industry tends to be more nuanced, immersive, and layered,” says Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at NELSON Worldwide, John “Ozzie” Nelson Jr. “We have the utmost confidence in Micah’s expertise to set a precedent for the future of hospitality in the Southeast. We’re excited to welcome him to the team and to see him translate our brand’s vision and purpose into each project.”

In his new role, Micah will oversee projects in the Southeast and set a design ethos for hotel, food and beverage, and entertainment projects. His vision is to expand the concept of “hospitality” beyond the traditional boundaries of hotels and into additional areas of practice, including Food & Beverage, Entertainment, and Branding. His goal is to establish a multi-disciplinary studio that provides integrated design solutions tailored to the specific needs and opportunities of each project. Micah’s experience has established him as a design and thought leader in the Atlanta area, and he brings existing relationships within the market to leverage as he works strategically to grow and expand NELSON’s hospitality portfolio.

“It’s an exciting time for the hospitality industry as the definition of what is “hospitality” continues to evolve and expand. With the rise of a focus of highly amenitized office and residential projects, remote work, and “bliesure” travel, the hotel industry itself continues to evolve in the post-pandemic world into something new, and I’m excited to be part of that evolution through design,” said Micah. “The opportunity to rebuild the hospitality practice within the Southeast at NELSON was an opportunity to leverage Nelson’s national platform and infrastructure while tailoring the studio to reflect specific trends we see in the region in a meaningful way. I couldn’t be more honored to be a part of that process.”

Micah is a self-professed foodie and traveler who draws inspiration for projects through his own experiences. His design philosophy is rooted in collecting experiences and unexpected moments and stepping outside the Southeast’s geographic boundaries that travel provides. His additional professional expertise includes renovations, retrofits, partnering with clients to reposition depressed assets, and increasing value through an integrated design process.

Areas of academic and personal research and interest include integrated sustainability strategies, macro-level environmental planning, and how architecture can be the catalyst for increasing and enhancing community and cultural sustainability. His professional experience is joined by academic instruction in Architecture (March ’10) and a formal advanced business education (MBA ’04) in marketing and real estate.
