NELSON was commissioned to help redesign Canal Park building’s lobby with the goal of repositioning the space in order to attract new tenants. The 206,000-square-foot space was designed to incorporate maps of the city of Cambridge, where the building is located.

Natural wooden panels were included in Canal Park’s interiors, lining the walls of the lobby with space for LED screens and lights beneath various sections. Audio and visual technologies were integrated into the design to allow the screens and lights to act as live, scrolling news sources and constantly changing photos of the city. The team also added comfortable seating in the lobby. The space overlooks Canal Park and receives an abundance of natural light.
