Q:
Professionally, what is one thing you want to be remembered for?

Creating designs based on culture and lifestyle that connect with a passionate audience.

Q: Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Everett, Washington not far from the Mukilteo Ferry – with the Skagit Valley and San Juan islands nearby. I had the good fortune to see views of Puget Sound out the kitchen window and the Cascades a stone’s throw up the road!

Q: Who inspires you?

Right now it’s Virgil Abloh. I love that he’s taking Street Culture to Luxury with his recent moves. This is a path that inspires me and relates to much of my work to date.

Q: What is a song or album that helps pump you up?

I love music and listen to so many things! This is a tough one to answer with just one track.  So, I’ll have to say it’s Beethoven’s 9th, Second Movement, followed up with anything by Massive Attack!

I am thrilled to become part of the innovative team that’s helping to shape the ever-evolving retail industry. I am committed to exploring the intersection between design, architecture, art, and culture to create meaningful connections with communities. I am looking forward to working with the team at NELSON to inspire through design.– Phil Otto
